Recalibrating Mama: Who have I become?
During the Recalibrating Mama workshop, you will take time to hear yourself think and feel.
Writing assignments and creative exercises will focus and guide you back to your personal wants and needs. By exchanging experiences with other mothers you will feel supported and connected. Together with tips and insights from me, your recalibration begins; You will learn how to respect your own needs, claim pockets of time and experience more space. These small adjustments will change your course, helping create the balanced groundwork necessary for the coming years.
“I have come to believe that caring for myself is not self-indulgent. Caring for myself is an act of survival.” — Audre Lorde
The life of a new mom is often overwhelming.
Finding time to take a shower can be a challenge let alone finding time for hobbies, friends or for aimlessly staring into space, petting the cat. The natural baby aftermath of no time and no sleep combine with society’s expectations and with the expectations you have of yourself. This potent cocktail can leave you feeling deluged, wondering where that lively, independent woman has gone.
If you are still feeling inundated eight months, a year or a year and a half after the birth of your baby, you’re not alone. It might be time to get a little help transitioning from the all-consuming first phase of motherhood into the ball-juggling phase of the modern child carer.
About me
Recalibrating Mama is the workshop I wish I had had as a young mother. My name is Isis Goldstein and after a number of years in childcare, I ran my own creative children’s toy shop in Amsterdam for 23 years.
